The journey began with a shared dream: to blend the potential talents of the Maasai and Samburo community with holistic personal development. Under the leadership of renowned athletics coach Dr. Gabriele Rosa, whose expertise has shaped the careers of world and olympic champions, and Sem Moioli, an experienced leader in digital entertainment and sports business, Maasai Academy bridges the gap between tradition and modernity. Alongside Dr. Alfred Saigero Ole Mosiany, a dedicated Maasai doctor, and other global partners, the Academy fosters a holistic approach to nurturing talent while honoring the cultural legacy of the Maasai.
Our Mission
The Maasai Athletic Academy is an innovative initiative aimed at empowering Maasai teenagers and youth population in Kenya through a comprehensive program of education, research, and athletic training. The Academy’s mission is encapsulated in its motto: “Education, Research, and Training.” This project provides a full-board educational environment designed to prepare Maasai youth for successful futures, both in sport and life, while preserving and celebrating their rich cultural heritage.
Our Story – Our Team
The Maasai Academy was born from a shared vision of empowering the Maasai community through sports, education, and research. Nestled in the heart of Kenya, our project celebrates the rich culture and resilience of the Maasai and Samburu peoples, offering transformative opportunities for the next generation.
Founded by Dr. Gabriele Rosa, a renowned sports physician and pioneer in the development of marathon training programs, and Sem Moioli, an experienced leader in mukltimedia, sports management and social impact projects, the Academy is a beacon of hope and opportunity. With the invaluable contributions of Dr. Alfred Saigero Ole Mosiany, a visionary Maasai community leader and healthcare advocate, Priscillah Namnyak Lekorere, a distinguished lawyer and children’s and women’s rights activist, Charles Kamathi and Janeth Jepkosgei, Kenya’s celebrated athletes, the Academy has a dynamic and purpose-driven team at its core.
The Maasai Academy is more than just a sports training center; it is a hub for education and personal growth. We aim to discover and nurture young athletic talents in the Maasai Mara and Samburu regions, providing them with a platform to shine on the global stage.
Our partnerships with institutions such as the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, Moi University, and other international collaborators ensure that Maasai Academy is also a center for groundbreaking research. These initiatives focus on the unique health, lifestyle, and genetic factors of the Maasai community, providing solutions that enhance their well-being.

We collaborate with prestigious institutions like the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai in New York City, Moi University in Eldoret, Kenya and International Universities to conduct scientific research to monitor the health and lifestyle of the Maasai community and we develop preventative measures against chronic diseases prevalent in the region.
